ARTJAM 2000: SEATTLE'S ANNUAL ILLUSTRATION-FEST

A Smashing Success

ARTJAM 2000, the Graphic Artists Guild's 4th Annual Northwest Illustrators Show, was a huge success. Held on the evening of Wed., Nov. 15th, in the Pacific Ballroom of the Seattle Hilton Hotel, ARTJAM 2000 brought together an ideal combination of a first-rate venue and facilities, plus impressive illustration talent from all over the Northwest (including Oregon and Canada), and a large enthusiastic crowd of attending art buyers, representing much of the Northwest's top illustration clientele (design firms, advertising agencies and corporate clients).

ARTJAM 2000 showcased the most artists and artists' representatives, as well as the greatest number of participating sponsors to date, in the event's 4-year history. The resulting variety and quality of art styles and mediums, plus services and products on display, was stunning. Just a few (of many) examples of the top local veterans showing their artwork, were such established names as Fred Hilliard, Jere Smith, Leslie Newman, Ron Bomba and Henk Dawson. Artists' representatives Pat Hackett, Susan Trimpe, Tiffany (Represents) LoRe and Christine Prapas added their considerable stables of talented illustrators to the mix, as did the local artists' agency, ArtSource, Inc.

The doors to ARTJAM 2000 opened at 5:00 pm, and the show was consistently well-attended until the 9:00 pm closing time. The overall attendance of invited art buyers was estimated at approximately 400 to 500 people. The show's grand finale was the exciting ARTJAM Raffle, emcee'd by illustrator Jesse Doquilo and artists' representative Jerry Jaz. Major raffle prizes were given away, some worth as much as $1,500 (generously donated by the show's Sponsors).

The SPGA/Seattle Chapter of the Graphic Artists Guild has established an annual tradition with ARTJAM, of staging a first-rate regional illustration show in the Northwest, and one not to be missed.

The Graphic Artists Guild thanks its ARTJAM 2000 Sponsors: Adobe Systems Inc., Alchemedia Technologies Inc., American Showcase, The Black Book, The Computer Store NW, Pat Hackett Artist Representative, Media Inc. Magazine, Neenah Paper, Nikko Media Center, Serbin Communications, Stella Color, and The Workbook.

Thanks as well to the ARTJAM 2000 Supporting Vendors: A&A Printing, AdInfonitum, Anderson Paper & Packaging, Applied Digital Imaging, Evergreen Quality Press, and Marketing Magazine.

The Guild salutes all of the above companies' invaluable support of the illustration industry, and looks forward to working with them again, in 2001 and beyond.
