ADVOCACY & BUSINESS

Our Efforts

Equipping artists with the skills they need is what we do best. But helping artists cope with today's market isn't enough. The Guild is organized as a union so that we may act collectively and advocate for artists' rights in the political arena, making sure that we are respected and treated fairly by local, State, and Federal governments.

The Graphic Artists Guild is the only artists' organization that engages in political advocacy on behalf of the economic and moral rights of artists as original creators of intellectual property. Through long-term and hard-won efforts of Guild members throughout the country, our Advocacy Committee has successfully altered US copyright law, onerous taxation legislation, and supported precedent setting legal action against copyright infringement in new media.

In this section, the SPGA/Seattle Chapter has made available White Papers and opinion papers produced by the Guild pertaining to several of our advocacy issues.
